Sibel Ügdüler, PhD student on the PSYCHE project, has developed methods to recycle plastic packaging cheaper and more quantitatively. Her PhD research has been awarded with the EOS Pipet 2022 in cooperation with the Young Academy. Sibel has developed a novel method to take apart the polymer layers of plastic packaging. With special solvent techniques, she is able to quickly dissolve the glue which ties the layers together and to fully recuperate each separate layer. She also developed a useful method for the deinking of plastics.
